Holzarte, Kakueta … Water has shaped the mountains, dug caves and dizzying canyons.
The Souletins have populated this space with mythological beings, such as the laminak, geniuses of the springs.
Multiple trails allow hikers to crisscross the valley, cross plateaus, forests and pastures.
Barcus is located between Oloron Ste Marie and Mauléon Licharre, at the gateway to Béarn and the Basque Country
Basque is spoken there, but Béarn and its beautiful valleys of Aspe, Ossau and Barétous are closer than those of Navarre.
So on a beautiful day you can join the little Artouste train, enjoy the Marie Blanque pass, the vulture cliff,
and even pass the Somport to reach the Aragonese valleys.
